Lemonjuz Basic HTML5 Template for Beginners

HTML5 is recently a hot topic in web design world.

According to W3Schools, HTML5 is the next generation of HTML and it has some interesting new features such as the canvas element for drawing, video and audio elements for multimedia, and specific elements like article, footer, header, nav, and section that will make websites more semantic. Of course semantic means that websites will be easy to navigate by search engines and screen readers.

However, HTML5 is still under development and currently not a W3C recommendation yet. Luckily, almost all modern browsers ( Firefox, Safari, Chrome, etc) support HTML5 and we can start experimenting with HTML5 while its specifications are being finalized.

So it’s time for us as web designers to get familiar with HTML5.  In this tutorial, I would like to share a Basic HTML5 Template for Beginners, which you can download and use it to start learning.

This is the template snapshot.

To begin with, these are some basics new elements in HTML5 that you need to know to create structural tags :

<section>

A section defines any part of the content.

<header>

A header contains introductions or important information about the content.

<footer>

A footer usually located at the final part of the content. It consists of typical information about the authors, copyright data, and some other links related to the documents.

<nav>

A nav contains navigation or main links of a website.

<article>

An article is an independent content of a blog, magazine, etc.

<aside>

An aside is usually located at the left or right side of content. It delivers information related to the main content.

Now what you need to do is to put all those elements together as structural tags. I’ve provided a basic HTML5 template as an example in this tutorial.  You can download the Basic HTML 5 Template for Beginners here and modify the content in order to get better understanding about HTML5 .
